Kindle - the Genius Book Killer

If people stop using libraries and start reading e-books instead there are many things that the libraries can do in order to stay updated. There will always be demand for a physical copy of a book so they do not need to get rid of these. However they need to expand what they are offering.

Libraries could release and app that allows users to enter their library card number and allow them to take out books instead of paying for them. Then they can change the book they have just read for a new book. By doing this they still have physical books for people to take out but are also still up to date in technology allowing people to take out books on their e-reading devices.

Libraries could do a different, more expensive, idea that means instead of only giving e-books to the people with capable devices they could have their own e-reader that are cheaply made and available to rent out. However this is probably a bad idea and would be better if they kept these inside the library.
